Observations Pt 7.
Credits: @venuscnjunctpluto
* Jesse’s Lilith is in Billie’s 12th house. This is such scary synastry to me because you don’t see how the Lilith person can be manipulating you or even trying to seduce you.
*scorpio risings have something noticeable about their ‘glabella’ (space in btw the eyes specifically the smooth area above the nose I had to Google it lol) I notice Scorpio risings have glabella’s that protrude which makes their eyes even more noticeable and intense. And it makes them look like a skunk lol (ex: Taylor swift, dita von teese, Natalie Portman, Chaka Khan, and Sydney Sweeney)
*moon square Venus people are the epitome of Candy Heron in mean girls. They end up in friendships and relationships that worse their emotional well-being. It’s usually summed up to them not being able to be themselves around their “friends” or partners.
*libra risings have pudgy noses with smaller nostrils while Aries risings have defined noses with larger nostrils. You can usually guess these two by their noses
*Capricorn rising women 🤝 elaborate ponytails, long braids, bangs idk their hair gives off power puff girl vibes
*the way Pisces placements get talked to is ridiculous to me. People will talk to them like literal children which is very demeaning.
*simone biles just got married congrats to her! Her husband has so many prominent cancer placements and 0 degree libra mars. Civilized cardinal placements have such big husband/wife energy it’s insane. Very romantic and taking the time you learn you as a person. They also have Venus trine Venus, mars conjunct mars, moon conjunct moon synastry 💕
*kelis is the perfect example of a Leo dominant. She wears so many vibrant colors, dyed her hair often, and always carried confident aura.
*I notice Scorpio Venus women defend plastic surgery and those who get it. I know three of them who defend the kardashians like crazy (even though ppls problem is the lying about surgery but anywho). I think it’s bc they would get plastic surgery as well if they could.
*venus-uranus/aqua Venus placements make friends so easily it’s insane. They’ll get reposted on social media a lot as well.
*Ik this guy with cupido conjunct mars and he’s a huge flirt and player. I have cupido conjunct mars and I think it attracts players towards me it’s been so many situations a guy has tried to hide his player tendencies but I always found out eventually. I think this is a red flag placement🚩🚩🚩🚩
*i have cupido in the 8th so does Barack Obama, Ryan gosling, Rihanna, Monica Bellucci, Elizabeth Taylor, Cardi B. This might be a very seductive placement these ppl probably go all in when they’re attracted to someone. Or they might use their sexuality to get their crushes.
*zoe kravitz playing Selina Kyle and having Venus conjunct pluto makes sense. She can pull off darker looks and I notice women w this look like cats. Ryan destiny is also a good example of this.
* a lot of my celeb crushes I have their Venus in my 1st. Matthew Gary gubler, Rob Lowe, Prince, Johnny depp, Cillian Murphy etc…the house person can admire the Venus persons’s style.
*uranus-asc have something unique about their appearance and usually it’s a cleft chin (ex: Ben Affleck, Troian Bellisario, Adele) I have this aspect as well and I have one
*virgo venuses 🤝 wearing black clothes and glasses
*sag venuses 🤝wearing goofy graphic t-shirts
*hilaria baldwin has a sag venus and obviously that’s a indicator of being into other cultures. I notice ppl who tend to be fixated on or appropriate other cultures have sag or aqua venuses *insert timothee chalamet’s rap video lol*
*in defense of Austin butlers sexy voice…a lot of Taurus risings have voice changes or issues. Miley Cyrus’s voice has gotten incredibly deeper as well because she developed a condition. Unpopular opinion I think his voice just changed😭
* Saturn-asc and people thinking you’re older bc you are reserved. They’re the kid who sat down quietly and read books or knitted while everybody else was running around. Even when we have other carefree placements our Saturn-asc makes them barely noticeable at all during first impressions. We also love vintage clothing (ex: Keith powers) I saw a similar post but I agree that this can make someone’s rising traits develop more as they get older. As an Aries rising I didn’t start working out or asserting myself more until I got older.
Stars with Venus-asc tend to be really charismatic and funny during interviews. (Ex: Rihanna, keke Palmer, Megan the stallion, and lizzo)
*saturn-sun people have very strict fathers or male figures who tried to control them a lot growing up. This can make them very hard on themselves as they get older and I notice a lot of lawyers have major Saturn aspects.
* two prominent stem malfunctions (challenger explosion and the Columbia explosion) happened during Aquarius season

I am just a little exhausted today. I just did a bit to much. And didn't sleep well at all. And after two very busy days, I just feel very off.
But it wasn't a bad day. We still did a bunch and accomplished things. I am just feeling fragile and tired this evening.
Our first appointment was at 730 so I woke up at 630. It was wicked cold out and getting dressed was tough. I was just feeling really bad this morning and James was asking me to many questions for how tired I was and I just wanted them to do things without checking with me and was snippier then I should have been. Even stomped my foot like a child because I was overwhelmed.
James made me an egg sandwich before we left and eating helped and I apologized when we were in the car. We were both just cold and tired and not having the best time. But we were in it together.
We got to the hospital and got an excellent parking spot. The office was surprisingly busy but we decided that was probably because of the holiday. Lots of people made their appointments so they wouldn't have to take off work. Makes sense to me.
The first appointment was our monthly ultrasound that is long. This was about 40 minutes. And baby girl continues to be breech with at least one leg over her head. But the tech was great and a patient and was able to get a few of the best 3D pictures of her face we have seen. Like that's a baby! That's her little nose! It was super exciting. I didn't understand at first but as the image got clearer I was like. Woah. That's our baby!
Once we were done in that room we got moved to another exam room for monitoring. We had a student nurse for the first time. Sydney. She was nice. Did things in a different order then I'm used to but was very nice and complimented my tattoos. She also brought me water because I felt so dried out. That was one of the issues I had sleeping last night. My nose was so dry I started whistling and it kept me awake. So the water was very helpful for being more comfortable.
One of the regular nurses came in when we were done and let us know baby was looking great. I showed her the weird mother ring Jess got for me. And she was like oh that's so perfect and it made me laugh.
We would schedule all of the rest of our appointments until the Monday before my scheduled C-section. Wild. It will be weird to not go there anymore!! I want to know if I can show them my baby when she's here!!
I was really tired by the end of the second appointment. We had a nice little chat with another pregnant couple in the elevator. Just wishing each other luck. And then James took me home.
When we got back here the house was really warm. We had turned on the heat before we left the house to give the animals some comfort. But I wanted to go back to sleep and I hate sleeping hot. But it was fine. I got changed out of my layers. Turned on a fan. And slept for an hour.
I wasn't thrilled when I woke up. James came and sat with me and we slowly decided what we would do for the afternoon. It was decided we would go to Friendly's, then the pet store, then the hardware store. I wanted to get more dirt and an under tank heater for Crabcake. That was my main goal for the day, just fixing up his new enclosure. And adding more substrate was the most important thing because his current heaters weren't able to reach where he was. And with how bitterly cold it was I needed to figure something out
But first lunch. And I'm glad we did that because half way there I started feeling a little sick. Food would fix that.
It was funny going there though. Both waitresses were also named Jessica. And they were thrilled to have customers. Apparently it was a very quiet morning. And while they were super nice my grilled cheese sucked lol. It got burned but the cheese didn't melt??? I didn't want to wait for a new one so I just ate it and enjoyed the fries. I mainly enjoyed my conversation with James. We have been talking a lot about the post surgery healing process. How James can support me since Im not going to be able/allowed to leave our second floor. Mainly it's the stairs that are the issue. And we figure if we get me up the stairs once, I should mainly just stay up there for a while. Which is going to be really tough but I will try my best to let James handle everything downstairs. Though I may want them to bring Crabcake upstairs to visit me.
I decided to get the tiniest milkshake/fribble to go. And after we paid we would just walk to the pet smart because it was in the same parking lot.
We would get coconut fiber substrate, a small under tank heating pad, flower topper, Timothy Hay, and kitty litter. I would end up talking to the other man in line who had also been in the turtle section. His turtle is an aquatic one. And he was very curious about our set up which was fun to talk about.
After paying and putting things in the car James drove us to the next parking lot to go to the Ollie's. I love a weird dress stock store. And this was an excellent one. It was like being in a dirty warehouse. Just immaculate disgusting vibes. If I was alone I would have bought a ton of nonsense. But James makes me be more reasonable. And we got dishwasher pods and I got some crazy discounted period underwear. Which is part of my postpartum plan and I will be going back to get more this week now that I know how they fit.
We had one more stop. I was getting to the end of my energy for being outside. So we drove back towards our neighborhood and went to the ace over there.
We got dirt and a shovel. The shovel is for future snow since we didn't get one before. I tried to pick up the dirt alone and bent my fingernails backwards and that was real painful. But we paid and went home.
We got back here and brought everything inside. I got right to work pulling apart what I had already build for Crabcake and starting over. And it did not go smoothly the whole time. I was struggling with the powerstrip with now 4 things plugged into it. James had to help me. My lower stomach was starting to bother me and I was struggling to continue to sit on my heels. But James helped where they could. And I got the glass tank set up with the under tank heater. And got all the dirt and substrate mixed and reset all the pieces. James helped me get the AstroTurf screwed into the wooden pieces. And everything settled. Crabcake had been walking around the studio but eventually James put him in the playpen for safety. But we got him back in his enclosure and he started exploring. He has now been in the glass tank sitting on the heating pad for hours. So I'm really glad he likes that!!
I tried to clean up the dirt in the ground. And put my new chair back but I tried to push it with my legs and that hurt my lower stomach so bad and I had to ask James for help and go upstairs and basically spend the rest of the day in bed. I was hurting really bad if I was moving and I just needed to lay down surrounded by every pillow.
I would eventually get up and painted my nails. James made me a lemonade. And they went outside to get something and ran into our neighbor across the street and he told James that they just found out they are expecting too!! I am so excited to have more babies around our babies age to have friends.
I would eventually come downstairs. James made us pizza. And we waited somewhere for Brandon to come visit.
And Brandon is here now! It's so nice to see him and tell him about baby stuff. Him and James are sitting in the floor finishing coloring our alphabet and James is showing him the nursery. It's been fun.
I am tired though and it will be nice to get back in bed. And hopefully tomorrow I can have lots of productive time working on my quilt. It will be a good day. Even if it's bitterly cold outside.
Sleep well everyone. Until tomorrow!

What Makes Someone Beautiful? /2
Notes
Proportions and symmetry are essential to be found beautiful
Some examples for a general beautiful face; smooth forehead, no wrinkles on the head which makes you look more calm and collected, less chance of being stressed. Alert eyes, droopy eyelids and puffy eyes can make you look tired and your face uneven. Symmetric nose, straight and refined to balance your smile. Full cheeks make you look lively and high spirited, it makes you look young. A define jawline to contour your face, making you look young and strong. A refined chin for elegance and balance. Proportional ears, defining your face and aiding the proportions. Full lips to look young and make your teeth look better when you smile. Tight neck, looking young.
They also included information on what can fix these 'problems', such as facelifts, jaw reshaping surgery, cheek implants, lip filler etc.
For the most part, it would seem the goal is to be young and fresh, to look sharp and strong. These are often how we refer to cattle for breeding as well, but that is a personal opinion. This is an important view from a specialist plastic surgeon, to see what they most commonly deal with and how they suggest to change such features.

Facial Feminisation Surgery (FFS), performed by Dr. Robert Knight in Sydney, transforms facial proportions for a softer, more feminine look. It's a profound journey aligning physical appearance with gender identity, addressing features like the forehead, nose, and jaw.

Drabble #2: Familiar Whisper
It's frustrating, to have hands so cold a smart phone can barely register a swipe. A forth try, fifth, and Morgan has to pick up this call. Finally, like a weak match strike the red dot drags left to right.
The contact read Jason Page.
Morgan's still fucking cold, unsure how to live with it besides bundling up. Jackets, sweats, blankets. Only when alone. Rare as isolation had become. Home was far away by now. The Best Western twin bed nothing compared to his creature comforts. At least his room was dark, quiet. The only light glaring yellow from outside the window. The only sounds were distant cars racing down the highway and now sloppy mouth sounds on his phones receiving end.
Pleasantries weren't shared between Morgan and his family. Nothing pleasant lived back there. Not a person, a memory or even a song. But normal, Morgan felt normal was the bare minimum. With time, distance, and self-awareness he tried to demonstrate normal for the few times per year they dared press dial.
"How are things at the shop? Are you... still seeing Janine?"
Jason has no interest in self-awareness and his normal should terrify most. The older brother loosens a mocking chuckle, and Morgan can still hear some chewing now paired with the crumbling of a wrapper. "No... no I am not seeing Janine."
"Oh, well I'm..." Jason is bored. Catching up is not why he called. He is also wasted. Morgan can tell.
The voice Morgan is accustomed to suddenly dominates the conversation. The whole room. "I had to hear this through Sydney. Are they fucking serious about this Paragon shit?"
Amid the heart attack, the surgeries, the medical tests and now Paragon, his wife had taken over all personal communication. Morgan's secretly grateful. He couldn't have gotten through this alone. He wouldn't be here without Sydney. He hates to admit that, but everyone knows it's true.
"Yeah, it doesn't feel real yet since it's been just... paperwork for the last few weeks, but I'm leaving soon."
"Unreal..." Jason's suddenly deathly quiet. Morgan might have checked the connection, except he still hears Jason's true thoughts in his brain. Doubt.
"How the fuck did this happen for you? You've never thrown a punch in your goddamned life."
For him? Morgan stays stuck on that manner of phrasing. Schooled by their beloved mother, a pure narcissist, Morgan's very aware that Jason chooses his words carefully. Even while drunk and sloppy.
"Except for the locker, oh you really had a meltdown that year. You always gotta make a scene, rather than handle your shit. Don't fucking play like that out there." Morgan felt a fluttering of his heart. His ears turned hot. The adrenaline of them and the past was making him alive again, but Morgan didn't want it like this. "Fuck. You're going to be a mess."
The poison was administered. One word after the next. The truth of what was dealt setting deeper than the words themselves. Morgan shut his eyes and breathed through his nose. He could be done. Now. Just hang up.
"Thanks, Jason... I thought you were calling to check on me. But it has been months. 'guess I shouldn't be surprised." Not a word from them since his miraculous revival. Sydney kept them close for the same reasons they stuck around. To find new ways to browbeat him. To fuck with his head. To control him. With his death, these powers, Sydney won the jackpot.
Jason knew how and when to tap the brakes. "Yeah, don't worry bro. All of us are the same as we've ever been." Before flooring the accelerator again. "You're off to do some crazy fucking shit and make an ass out of our name. Dad would--"
Morgan gasped out, but luckily all the air escaped as a formidable command.
"Jason, stop."
The pain and shock that these words dealt Morgan, and Jason follows up with a laugh. "It's just--you're baby Morgan. Pussy Morgan! You've never done a heroic goddamned thing in your life. Pencil pushing puff you are."
They were both young again. Jason playing bully and Morgan sitting still. Taking it. Mostly because Jason never really was so special. He'd learned from their first bully, one they shared. Nothing Jason did or said could come close to their fathers cruelty. That's why Morgan continued to be still. Jason had never stopped hurting or moved forward. For all three siblings, their fathers spirit was alive and well.
He was in this room right now.
"What are you gonna do when you're faced with the real shit? Curl up? That's just who you are. 'can't even take a school house bully."
Jason was drunk. Jealous. Morgan could see through all the diversions. Jason was drowning and out of desperation attempted to drag Morgan down beneath him for one breath of air. Paragon. Super powers. His pacifist little brother. How could he resist? "Should it have been you then, Jason?"
"Ma thinks so..."
He doesn't care that Morgan sees through him. Morgan can hear the smile.
"and Sydney... you don't wanna know what Sydney thinks."
Truth? Lie? Did it even matter? Morgan sits still again. Not willing to argue with delusion, because the truth hurts more. No more truth.
"If it weren't for Sydney, would we have ever heard from you before the news? You'd leave ma to worry? Just like Christine, pretend we don't exist?"
"Well... thank Sydney for the check. Ma's putting it to good use, the whole back deck is getting a rework. I may start looking at a truck."
"'maybe rethink this... should be some paperwork to pull you out. Before it's too late."
The final words, brief and seemingly indifferent, felt like a familiar whisper. When they were little, Jason would hurt him, but sometimes, when their dads back was turned, Morgan would hear something akin to an apology. But never I am sorry. "Good fucking luck."

Wog Media Sunday Spotlight #5: Superwog "Parent Teacher Interviews" (YouTube: superwog1, 2016)
In true Sunday style, I present the fifth instalment of Wog Media Sunday Spotlights, every Sunday on wogism.blog
Superwog, the comedic genius hailing from Australia, was a youth who carved a niche for himself with his distinctive take on cultural stereotypes and everyday situations.
Born Theodore Saidden on June 17, 1995, in Sydney, he, along with his brother Nathan Saidden, have gained widespread recognition through their collaborative YouTube channel.
The heart of Superwog's comedic universe revolves around cultural clashes, wog family dynamics, and the quintessential Australian way of life. His comedic style is marked by sharp wit, exaggerated characters, and an unapologetic approach to addressing sensitive topics.
One of his standout YouTube videos, and a favourite of mine, "Parent Teacher Interviews," offers a hilarious glimpse into every student's dreaded day or night of the semester.
The skit artfully employs absurdity and farcical humour through a variety of characters, each contributing to the overall comedic brilliance.
In one scenario, a mother, adorned with ethnic flair and a fur shawl, staunchly defends her daughter's use of makeup at school, even going so far as to insult the teacher's intelligence. Meanwhile, she becomes fixated on acquiring the teacher's supposed nose from a recent surgery her sister desires.
Tumblr media
Another scenario unfolds with an 18-year-old son, stuck at a Year 7 academic level, accompanied by his "abusive" father. The interview takes an uncomfortable turn as the teacher's attire is deemed "revealing," and the son reveals disturbing details about the physical harm endured by him and his family members.
Tumblr media
A female student, accompanied by a legal guardian of questionable legitimacy, adds another layer of hilarity. Their odd pairing and suggestive interactions during the interview unravel a storyline suggesting he's her boyfriend, raising questions about his legal guardianship.
Tumblr media
The skit reaches its pinnacle with a racist, white Australian mother lamenting the number of Asians in her son's year ("There's only one in the entire school", says the teacher) and advocating for expulsion. Notably, her son couldn't attend the interview as it was past his bedtime.
Tumblr media
Superwog's "Parent Teacher Interviews" successfully portrays parents and legal guardians in unorthodox roles, using humour that elicits both quick laughs and leaves a lasting impact with memorable quotes.
In essence, the video masterfully captures the absurdity of parent-teacher interactions, showcasing Superwog's comedic prowess in navigating sensitive subjects with finesse.
As the laughter subsides, it's evident that Superwog's comedy lies in his ability to find humour in the quirks and complexities of everyday life.
Hope you enjoyed something a bit different rather than a film or TV series, it was a joy to revisit this, one of many iconic Superwog videos.
You can watch this video on YouTube, accompanied by the endless suite of videos Theo, Nathan and co have produced over the years.
Coming up to Christmas time (WTF?), I recommend the ABC special these legends took part in titled "The Difference Between Wogs & Aussies: CHRISTMAS". Enjoy!
As always -
Stay well, and be well.

An 80-year-old Sydney woman who fell down in a parking lot and showed up at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ER by ambulance covered in blood gave up after hours of waiting.
Ruth Kalbhenn said she walked home, packed her nose, and sat up until 2 a.m. to keep from choking on the blood. A real bad day, Kalbhenn said of Sunday’s ordeal.
Shortly after noon, she headed out to the drugstore to buy strips for diabetes testing. It was so nice out, and I hadn't been out in ages, said Kalbhenn. She decided to go into a used car lot off Grand Lake Road that was closed on Sundays to look at a car she had her eye on.
That's because while Kalbhenn fell and feared she would die being out of sight between two cars, she managed to get up. It was -10 C outside, according to Environment Canada records.
She got to her car and found some napkins to sop up the blood from her face. She recounted that the blood was coming from everywhere. Kalbhenn knew she had to get to the road and try to get help, and so she did, with the bloody napkins held to her face and cars whizzing by left and right.
One woman who stopped had gauze in her car; she said an off-duty policeman called the ambulance. Kalbhenn figures she was in shock. Her sugars were also high, from what she gathered from the paramedics.
When she arrived at the hospital, she said she encountered a rude young man, whom she thought at first was a doctor but who never sorted that out. According to Kalbhenn, he took issue with her unique last name when she could barely talk.
But she was handed a paper and sent to the waiting room, where she sat, blood-soaked. The woman next to me said you broke your nose. It was all full of blood and my clothes. People were looking at me, God, and that poor thing.
Kalbhenn said she wasn’t even offered a drink of water by staff, and she hadn’t eaten in hours. By 5 p.m., the place was again empty, and her name was still not called.
It took her 20 minutes to walk home; her car had been left behind at the lot, and she couldn't find a phone to call a taxi. I would take 10 steps and take a rest, she said.
Back at her seniors’ apartment, Kalbhenn, a former home care worker, packed her nose and cleaned herself up. I sat here until two in the morning, swallowing blood, gurgling, gurgling. … I rolled up the Kleenex like a rollie, cut them in three, and put them in my nose, she said.
Kalbhenn was also afraid she had a concussion. She said she was drinking with a straw, could only eat soup, and had an X-ray appointment Friday after seeing her family doctor. She has two black eyes and is taking Tylenol for the pain.
After her appointment, Kalbhenn said she had a small break in the nose and a sprained wrist but was not going to need surgery, thank God. It’s just going to take time. I knew there was a break there.
While at the ER, she said she was given a pad once by a nurse but not spoken to as the nurse rushed off. She eyed a gurney, wishing she could lie down on it.
Sharon Erb, who lives in Alberta, described her mother as more like a 50-year-old than 80. She’s more on the go than I am. Her mother called her and recounted what had happened.
Nova Scotia Health spokeswoman Krista Keough said patient care is always a priority, so the department is very concerned when any patient leaves the emergency without being seen.
Most of the department’s patients, roughly 70 percent, are seen and released. Some hospitals have between 10 and 20 percent of patients who leave without being seen.
Keough said the percentage varies depending on patient volumes and acuity on a given day. 100 to 120 patients are seen at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital emergency department each day.

Never Gonna Be Alone:  Chapter 1
Warnings: none
Tagging: @innerpaperexpertcloud, @c-a-v-a-l-r-y, @alievans007, @tragiclyhip
Tumblr media
His flight lands at JFK shortly before two in the afternoon. He’d slept for the better part of it; worn out from the lengthy hikes in the oppressive heat. Something to eat and a shower had done him some good. Easing the majority of tightness in his back and shoulders and tackling some of the swelling and pain in his right knee. It remains the proverbial thorn in his side; first replacement failing after only a year and a half and then having lengthy and painful recovery issues following the second one. He’ll never be able to fully straighten that leg or go a day without some swelling or pain. The surgeons had done the best they could under the circumstances; warning him of excessive and irreparable damage done to the surrounding ligaments and tendons and preparing him for a third surgery before he hits sixty.
While miserable and hobbling at times, it’s still nowhere near as agonizing as what he’d been living with before. Ninety percent of his nights are spent sleeping straight through; very rarely is he woken by pain, nor does he have to resort to the alternating of hot and cold showers in effort of relieving some of the suffering. And there’s been no nightmares. Two and a half years of NOT having his rest disrupted by vivid and terrifying recollections of his times in Dhaka. THAT’S more of relief than the absence of pain; the troubles with his mind finally giving him reprieve thanks to a strict regime of medications and therapies. There’s been no manic or severely depressive moments; moods managed relatively well and healthy coping mechanisms long ago replacing the damaging and dangerous behaviours he’d once turned to.
It helps to have a support system. Knowing there’s someone in your corner that will constantly cheer you on; never letting you get discouraged or allowing you to give up on yourself. Oftentimes...when things get particularly bad...willingly carrying some of the burden and despair themselves. Had it not been for her, he would have surrendered a long time ago. He would have easily resorted back to the booze and the drugs; his life empty and meaningless and not worth the effort and the oxygen it took to stay alive.
He woke an hour before landing and placed two calls. The first to Dylan’s Candy Bar; a favourite destination of the kids every time they make a trip to the Big Apple. It’s one of the places they insist on visiting at least twice. Shamelessly dropping nearly all their spending money given to them by their parents; filling their shopping bags to the brim with sweet treats and various trinkets. The order was simple; seven plastic buckets -each adorned with the kids’ favourite cartoon character or superhero- filled with their candy and chocolate of choice and gift certificates for the sundae bar. The second call is placed to the ‘go to’ local florist. Two dozen long stemmed sweetheart roses; white, pink, and purple. It makes him happy; being able to both surprise and spoil her. The latter always launches a protest on her behalf; reminding him that she isn’t a materialistic person and most certainly doesn’t expect or need expensive gifts. But he can’t help himself. While they live remarkably simple and low key in the grand scheme of things, it’s no secret that money is no longer an issue; their bank account will never run dry and there will always be cash -BIG cash- rolling in. And he feels she deserves to be spoiled and treated like a queen. Not only giving him seven kids in as many years, but staying by his side through thick and thin; never giving up on him -or the- even when things were their darkest and direst.
She’s been with him from the humblest of beginnings; when he had absolutely nothing to offer her. Money had been scarce. Nearly all their combined savings used up on a mountain of medical bills; his long and painful recovery from Dhaka making any and all employment impossible. It was worrisome; wondering how the hell he’d keep a roof over her head and food in her pregnant belly. If he couldn’t manage THAT, how was he going to be able to properly care for a kid? They hadn’t had much back then; that tiny apartment outside of Sydney filled with used and mismatched furniture and barely any clothes in their closets. But she’d hung in there. Agreeing to marry him even though he couldn’t even afford to give her a ring, let alone a proper wedding. Loving him with every fibre of her being and always looking at him as if he was the most incredible man on earth; declaring that he made her feel safe and protected and that she’d never...EVER...felt that way before.
And that’s why he does. All of that blind faith and love and trust that she’s always possessed. The chances she’s given to him; forgiving him for all the broken promises and all the lies he told -never maliciously, only as a means of keeping her safe- and the times he fell off the wagon and went back to the booze and drugs. So many times she could have walked away; taken the kids and fled the country and made sure that he would never find them. But she never did. She never let it...HIM...break them. No matter how hard it got, no matter tears she shed, no matter how volatile the arguments or how many holes he punched in the walls, she never gave up. Even when she did kick him out, it hadn’t been a sign of defeat. It had been a warning; telling him that she wouldn’t allow someone like him in her children’s lives and he needed to clean up his act. He’s still ashamed that it took as long as it had. Six months spent wallowing in his self pity and despair; twenty four weeks away from his family because he was too scared and too weak to face his problems head on and try to solve them. And she’d taken him back; a tearful phone call in the middle of the night begging him to come home. They’d stayed up until dawn; having the calm and rational heart to heart that they should have indulged in months..if not YEARS...ago. And finally he’d been ready to change; crying and begging for forgiveness and promising to do whatever it took to make things right again.
To make THEM right again.
Although Anil had arranged for a private car to take him home, he opts for a taxi instead. While he appreciates Anil's continued generosity, it’s far too ‘flashy’ for him; a black Lincoln with tinted windows pulling up into Gramercy Park will only draw attention from the neighbours. While everyone residing there is just as wealthy -if not more- things are still relatively low key; North American made SUVs and sedans in place of luxury models from overseas, no outward displays of disgusting riches and pompous attitudes. He knows he and his family are an enigma of sorts; nine of them from Australia showing up out of the blue and dropping huge cash -especially for what’s considered a young family- on a place that'd been on the market for nearly two years. Then spending an exorbitant amount of money transforming the three story townhome into exactly what they wanted. Adding a private and secluded back deck complete with a wet bar and a hot tub and an area for outdoor food prep and grilling. Blowing the one wall out in TJ and Tanner’s room; removing would have been a study in favour of turning it into built in queen sized bunk beds and enormous walk in closets with enough space for clothes and toys. And a home gym stocked with the best equipment money can buy and a top of the line sound system; ; an addition off the kitchen that had been a last minute decision. It had taken two years and a dozen trips to and from Australia and New York CIty to get everything just right. Finding joy in seeing just what all the hard work and seemingly endless shedding of blood, sweat, and tears, could actually bring to their family.
When he’s two blocks away he texts his wife, letting her know he’s mere minutes from their front gate. The three littlest love that final stretch; kneeling on the couch and pressing their noses against the living room window as they impatiently await his arrival. She’ll try to get boots and coats on them in time; more often than not chasing them out the front door with winter apparel in hand, shouting about the dangers of frostbite and hypothermia and how they don’t want to spend their entire Christmas break stuck in bed with the flu. It’s been an adventure; raising seven children. Definitely not for the faint of heart or those lacking in patience. There’s the frustrating moments; two or three throwing temper tantrums in unison, an often mouthy and rebellious pre-teen girl that makes her mother her primary target, a ten year old boy that has absolutely no fear; who indulges -and excels- in even the most aggressive of sports and gets bored and irritable if he isn’t keeping himself moving. It’s chaotic and it’s noisy. School mornings are a whirlwind of activity; breakfast for a family of nine, the oldest helping finish and pack lunches, mom and dad working on getting the less independent kiddos ready and out the door. But there’s a lot of fun under that roof; an endless supply of giggles and little arms always ready and willing to wrap you in a hug. The great times far out number the trying and exhausting ones; rewarded with kisses and cuddles and those crinkly eyed smiles.
And there’s a lot of love in that house. If the pain and the worry and the fear that his brush with death had five years ago had taught him anything, it’s that they truly are capable of getting through even the toughest of times. They ARE stronger together than they are apart; fighting through all the pain and all the tears and coming out the other side relatively unscathed. And they’ve become stronger; as individuals AND as a couple. Their marriage has never been healthier. Rational and calm discussions taking the place of often volatile arguments and taking every opportunity presented to them for ‘one on one time’; whether it be date nights or their evening walks along the beach or coffee out on the deck while the sun rises. Seamlessly and effortlessly working as a team when it comes to raising their children, but never forgetting how important it is to acknowledge the bond that exists between them. Not just as spouses and two people that made babies together, but as best friends and lovers and each other’s biggest supporters and most loyal confidants. Marriage therapy has turned out to be the best thing they ever could have agreed to; able to acknowledge their weaknesses as both a couple and as individuals. Opening their eyes to the little things that annoyed and often -unintentionally- hurt one another and tested the limits of their patience.
Things aren’t perfect. But most days they seem damn close to it.

Clad in a cumbersome ski jacket and a pair of heavy and clunky winter boots, five year old Takota scrambles onto the living room couch. Leaning stomach first against the back cushion, he places his elbows along the top and heaves a long, forlorn sigh. “He’s late.”
Beside him -and already bundled into her own cold weather gear- Addie casts a glance towards the clock that graces the nearby fireplace mantle. “It’s only been eight minutes.”
“Mummy said he’d be here in FIVE minutes.”
“Maybe the traffic is bad. Maybe the cabbie is a really slow driver. I’m sure he’ll be here soon.”
“I hope so.” Another dramatic sigh. “I wonder why daddy had to go away in the first place?”
Addie twirls one of the braided tassels on her knitted hat around her index finger. “‘Cause Kota, he’s the boss and sometimes bosses have to go and boss people around. In person. Not just on the phone and through the computer.”
“Maybe he had to go and yell at them,” Takota suggests, and pushes his beanie towards the back of his head, then uses a forearm to clear beads of sweat from his brow. “His voice is REALLY loud when he yells. I bet he scared them . Do you think they cried?”
“I would cry if he yelled at me.”
“Daddy never yells at us. He doesn’t need to. He just gives us the stink eye. You know, ‘the look’.”
“The look is scarier than when he yells, I think. He yells at Millie sometimes.”
“That’s ‘cause she deserves it. We don’t. We’re just little. She’s big and mean. And bad. Really bad.”
“Who’s bad?” Brooklyn asks, soles of her boots loud against the laminate flooring as she clomps into the living room, then squeezes her tall and slender frame between the window and the back of the couch.
“Millie,” her twin replies. “All the time.”
“That’s ‘cause she’s almost a teenager,” Brooklyn reasons. “All teenagers are bad.”
“I think it’s ‘cause she’s just a big bitch,” Addie declares.
Voices -especially high pitched little ones that don’t come with a volume switch or understand the meaning of the word ‘whisper’- travel easily through the main floor. Particularly through the open concept design that seamlessly combines living room and kitchen; high ceilings and easy to clean carpet free flooring. A definite must have with seven kids and two dogs. And as she stands at the kitchen island nursing a mug of tea, Esme’s eyebrows arch as she catches the profanity that slips from her soon to be six year old’s mouth.
“Hey!” she calls, and drops her chin to her chest and narrows her eyes. “Language. Please.”
“Sorry,” Addie gives a sheepish grin, then turns back towards the window. “It’s true though.”
“Mum,” Takota turns to face the back of the couch; a pout on his lips and his arms crossed over his chest. “You said he’d be here in five minutes. It’s been an hour.”
“It’s been ten minutes,” she informs him. “It’s snowing out. People forget how to drive when it’s snowing. Traffic is probably bad. Patience, young sir.”
“I don’t have any patience. I’m five, remember? Why did daddy have to go away again?”
“He had some business to take care of. Far away.”
“He’s been gone for like a year.”
“I know it seems that way, but he’s only been gone for four days. Five if you count the night he left.”
“Why’s he leave when we’re sleeping?” Brooklyn inquires, as she traces a fingertip along the edges of the paper snowflakes -done in various colours and sizes- that she and her siblings had created and taped to the glass the evening before. “Why doesn’t he wait to say bye to us?”
“Because most of the flights leave at night. It’s not personal.”
“He should at least wake us up,” Takota says. “I hate not getting to say bye to him.”
“I don’t know, I’m kinda of glad that he DOESN’T say bye,” Addie pipes up. “I’d cry for sure. It’s better if he goes when I’m asleep. So I don’t ugly cry.”
Their chatter turns to plans to build snowmen in the small expanse of backyard, hopes of going sledding, and excitement over the buckets of candy that had been delivered only thirty minutes earlier. The bouquet of flowers sits in the middle of the dining table; a stunning arrangement of long stemmed sweetheart roses in her favourite colours and accompanied by a card that simply reads: I LOVE YOU. While not a fan of grand romantic gestures, over the past five years he’s shown an increased propensity for these ‘out of the blue’ moments. It can be simple yet thoughtful and personal things. Her favourite cupcakes from the local bakery back home, flowers being delivered to the bookstore in the middle of the day, or him taking a break from seemingly endless hours of ‘in office’ work and showing up with lunch for the both of them. Just taking the time to be with her is what matters most to her; the affection he gives and effort he puts into making sure she realizes just how often she’s on his mind. And how much he appreciates her and loves her and truly can’t imagine his life without her.
Then there’s the bigger and more elaborate things; the desire to spoil her every chance he gets, claiming it makes him happy to do so. She always protests. Reminding him that that’s NOT why she fell in love with him; marrying him when they both had very little yet their lives somehow seeming simpler and less stressful. But it just goes in one ear and out the other. his persistence and stubbornness always getting the upper hand. Showering her with jewelry and designer clothing and accessories; surprising with spa appointments and ‘girls weekends’ away with her sister. And then there’s the twice yearly ‘mommy and daddy only’ trips he insists they take. One always to their favorite getaway in Phuket, Thailand, and the other destination always kept a secret until they actually land. He says it makes him happy; being able to just randomly treat her to things they’d never been able to really afford before. Truly believing that she deserves to be spoiled; wanting a way to show how much he appreciates her and how grateful he is for the life she’s given him. A chance to prove he CAN be a good husband and father and that his past mistakes in no way to define who he truly is. And he always talks about how fortunate he is that he found a strong woman; someone that stuck around during even the hardest and darkest of times. Always loyal and faithful. Loving him when he didn’t make it easy to.
He’s come a long way in five years. THEY’VE come a long way. Both separately and as a couple. Therapy has made a world of difference; helping them get to the bottom of both individual issues and those causing friction and tension in their marriage. It had taken him a while to accept the idea of couples counselling; afraid that needing it was a sign that things were far worse than he thought they were Slowing coming around to the realization that it wasn’t because they had serious problems that had to be addressed, but because they needed to find ways to keep those issues from cropping up in the first place. Both had needed to be reminded that their roles in each other’s lives went far beyond just being spouses and raising children together. That the bond that existed between them surpassed what most normal couples could lay claim to. Best friends. Lovers. Each other’s most trusted confidants and most loyal and steadfast supporters. Once they began taking time out to spend together, they soon learned how to nourish those very different roles in each other’s lives. Their marriage started to see the benefits almost immediately; becoming stronger and their appreciation, gratitude, and love for another growing beyond anything either of them could imagine.
“Momma?” Takota appears on the other side of the island, having to stand on his tiptoes to see over the countertop. Like his Tanner and Addie, he’s on the small side; not blessed with the tall and lanky genes that the others -including his twin sister- had been given. And like Tanner, he is soft spoken and serious; loving to spend time outdoors, yet preferring quieter pursuits. Very creative; indulging in painting and drawing and any form of craft that he can get his hands on.
She glances up from the copy of the New York Times open in front of her. “What’s up, buttercup?”
“Do you think daddy went away because he had to kill someone?”
“What?” She gives a startled chuckle. “Why would you…?”
“TJ said that daddy used to kill people. Before he became a boss. That he was a mer...mer…”
“Mercenary,” she finishes for him, then pushes the sleeves of her sweater up to her elbows and moves to the stove; stirring the contents of a simmering pot. One of Tanner’s many culinary creations; a rather creative mixture of chicken, taco seasons, and various vegetables. It’s his newfound passion; cooking and baking. And he insisted that some of that day’s lunch be left over so daddy could try it when he got home.
The little things go both ways. She’s found her own ways of spoiling him and showing her gratitude and appreciation. Today it’s a warm meal and fresh, hot coffee and the hot tub on the back deck already bubbling; relief for what she knows will be an aching and weary body.
“Is it true? That he used to kill people? When he was one of those? A mercenrie?”
“Mercenary,” she slowly repeats. “And yeah, sometimes. Sometimes he DID have to.”
“Because they were bad people?”
“Very bad people.”
“Is that why he had to go away? To kill bad people?”
“I don’t know why. I didn’t ask for details. He just had to go away for a few days.” It isn’t entirely true. He did in fact head to Laos and Cambodia to do just THAT; two high profile drug and weapons smugglers with enormous price tags on their heads and lengthy lists of enemies. But he’d also said that there was ‘more to it’; things that she didn’t need to know. Details that made HIM extremely unsettled. Something THAT bad? He preferred not to place it upon her shoulders.
“Is he going to go to hell? Because he killed people?”
“No.” She scoops some of the soup from the pot and holds it to her lips; aggressively blowing on it and then checking the temperature with the tip of her tongue before offering it to her son.
Takota eagerly accepts the ‘snack’. “Are the people he killed going to hell?”
“How about we NOT talk about this? If you want to know those kinds of things, you ask daddy. He’ll be able to answer your questions a lot better than I will.”
“I think you’re just throwing him under the bus. Setting him up for failure. We BOTH know he won’t tell me.”
“You are way too smart for five. Taste good? The soup?”
“Really good. Tanner could be a really famous chef one day, I bet. I’m gonna be a lion tamer.”
Grinning, she moves back to the island and snags her mug; heating the tea with some of the remains sitting in the pot she had made earlier. “You are, are you?”
“Daddy said I could be whatever I want to be when I grow up. And I want to be a lion tamer. And maybe a dentist.”
“Both at the same time?”
“I can’t tame lions and fix teeth at the same time. That’s just weird.”
“Mum!” Brooklyn bellows from the living room, then begins pounding her palm against the window. “That weird guy is back again!”
“He’s talking to TJ,” Addie chimes in. “I think TJ is going to tell him off. TJ doesn’t like him. He thinks the guy’s an asshole.”
“Adeline! Language!” she scolds, and then turns the burner on the stove to the nearest possible setting and heads through the kitchen and out into the living room, Takota hot on her heels.
“Why is he back?” Brooklyn unlocks the latch on the window and aggressively shoves it open. “Why are you back, weirdo?! You already shovelled the sidewalk! It hasn’t snowed enough yet! Go away! Mum…” both brows are arched as she glances over her shoulder. “...TJ is going to flip out. The weirdo is asking if you’re here. He called you pretty. I heard him! TJ is pissed!”
“Hey! Hey you!” Addie yells out the window. “My brother is going to kick your ass!”
“No one is kicking anyone’s ass,” Esme says, and shoves her feet into a pair of Crocs by the front door and snags one of the many coats from the hall closet; a snowboarding jacket that belongs to her husband and is monstrous on her tiny frame. And she barely manages to get the front door open; the three littles rushing past her and out onto the freshly shovelled porch and half completed steps.
“Why don’t you just go away!” TJ is barking at the ‘hired help’; a neighbourhood kid that she’d hired three years ago to handle the sidewalk IF Tyler was away. TJ had willingly taken on the responsibility of snow cleaning their first Christmas in Gramercy Park. Happy to be in charge of keeping the walk, stairs, and porch clean, but knowing that anything past the front gate is off limits. “You already did the sidewalk! It doesn’t need done again!”
“What’s going on?” Esme wraps an arm around her son’s shoulders and pulls him tightly into her. He’s tall for only ten; less than an inch away from squeaking past her in height. Still slim yet not as lanky and awkward looking; shoulders broader and muscles in his upper body already forming and becoming defined. A direct result of his love for sports and the kid friendly workouts in the gym that his dad let’s him partake in.
“This guy…” TJ nods in the teenager’s direction. “...wants to talk to you. He called you pretty. He asked ‘where’s your pretty little mom?'. I don’t like the way he said it. And dad wouldn’t like it either.”
“Is there a fight?” Tanner inquires, as he and Declan emerge from the side of the house; hearing the shouting from the backyard where they’d been keeping an eye on the dogs and building ‘snow fortresses’. “Who’s fighting?”
“No one is fighting,” Esme replies. “Just a misunderstanding between your brother and Jacobi. I’m sure it’s nothing, TJ. Go back to what you were doing. Daddy will be home soon. It’ll be a nice surprise for him; seeing everything shovelled off.”
“I don’t like this drongo,” TJ declares, and gestures towards the teenager with the end of the shovel. “He called you pretty. No one calls my mum pretty. Even if she is.”
“Beat him up,” Delcan suggests. “Daddy would.”
“Daddy would NOT beat someone up for no reason,” Esme informs him. “Especially not a teenager. Jacobi,” she turns to the teen in question. He’s a senior at the high school only three blocks away; a nice enough kid from an upper middle class home, constantly clad in backwards ball caps, baggy jeans, a varsity football jacket. “Now is NOT a good time. My wallet’s inside and I have no cash on me and my husband’s going to be home any second and it’s going to get really crazy around here. And loud. Very loud.”
“You don’t have to pay me until next time. I was just going to ask you if…”
TJ steps in front of Esme, forming a protective barrier between her and the unwanted visitor. “My mum’s married,” he snarls. “To my dad. Leave her alone! My dad is big and he’s strong and he can hurt people. With one hand. And if he finds out you’re mackin’ on my mom…”
“Tyler..” she places her hands on his shoulders. “...enough. No one is ‘macking’ on anyone. Jacobi is just being friendly. He shovels the sidewalk for us when dad isn’t here. And takes the garbage to the curb. He’s just trying to be friends.”
“My mom doesn’t need any more friends. Especially GUY friends. Seriously, my dad will kill you. Trying to get with my mom? Yeah, my dad will lose his shit. And you don’t want him to lose his shit. He’ll break you half. With his bare hands.”
“He’s very protective,” Esme explains to the teen, and gives an apologetic smile. “When dad leaves, he takes the role of ‘man of the house’ very seriously. You’re more than welcome to come back later; you can come in and have some hot chocolate or you can stay for dinner.”
“Oh now he’s coming to dinner?!” TJ huffs. “He just wants to try and get in your pants, mum. It’s obvious.”
“You’re ten. You don't know what's obvious when it comes to those things. You need to settle down. Jacobi is harmless. He’s just trying to be friends. Wouldn’t that be nice? To have friends here? It’s always nice to have friends.”
“I have friends back home. I don’t need them here. I got Tanny and Declan. What do I need HIM for?”
“Daddy!” Addie shrieks, as she stands on the lower rung of the wrought iron fence that borders their slice of property. One mitten clad hand wrapped around one of the posts while the other frantically waves at the yellow cab that pulls up to the curb. “Daddy! Daddy’s home!”

Chaos erupts; the gate being thrown open and a stampede of six human bodies and two dogs trying to steamroll their way through. The pure joy on those little faces and the excitement in their voices enough to cause a lump of emotion to settle square in his throat and tears to prick at his eyes; the latter hidden behind the lenses of his sunglasses. It had taken work to get past the feelings of inadequacy. The self hate and guilt and shame that had been telling him for years that he didn’t deserve the life he’d been given; a second chance at being a husband and father. Therapy has helped him get past that; helping him learn how to forgive himself and look at everything he DOES have instead of constantly questioning WHY he does. Now all he thinks about is how damn lucky he is; to have created seven human beings and to know how much they love him and how much they need him in their lives.
He barely gets a foot on the curb before the three littlest are on top of him. Shrieking and squealing with happiness and grabbing at the legs of his jeans; all three chattering at once, anxious for his undivided attention and begging to be picked up. He opts to dropping to one knee; not caring about the snow and the slush that soaks his leg or dirties the fabric. All that matters is those kids; three sets of arms wrapping tightly around his neck and those and those tiny voices giggling and happily screeching in his ears. And he gives each one the same attention; laying on the back of their heads and pressing kisses to their lips and cheeks.
“Daddy!” Addie climbs onto his thigh and squeezes his neck even tighter. “I missed you! I missed you so much!”
“I missed you too, Peanut. Every second of every day. I missed ALL of you.”
“But me the most, right? You missed me more than anyone, right?”
“ALL of you. I don’t have favourites.”
“Yes, you do. I know it’s me, daddy. Everyone knows it’s me.”
“Maybe I’ve got a little soft spot for you. But you know who my absolute favourite is? My most favourite human in the whole world?”
“Mummy.”
“Exactly.” He gives her a final squeeze and peck on the cheek, gently sliding her off of his thigh and then standing; wincing at the discomfort in his right knee and the tightness in his shoulder when he slings his piece of luggage -a simple backpack often used during hiking and camping excursions with the family- up onto it. “Hey little red,” he greets Declan, and affectionately ruffles both the winter hat and the shock of red hair underneath. “What happened? Grow another foot while I’m gone? You look taller.”
“I’m going to be a giant like you, dad,” Declan declares, then stands on his tiptoes with his lips pursed for a kiss. “Mum says I might even be BIGGER than you.”
“Guess I better watch my step, huh? Treat her right? Or you’ll be kicking my ass when you’re older. What about guys?” He addresses the oldest twins, clapping a hand on the back on the back of TJ’s neck and pressing a kiss on his cheek.
Tanner...and his needs...are different. He’s the more sensitive of the two; so much like his mother when it comes to a near constant need to show and receive affection. And since his Autism diagnosis almost five years ago -high functioning, as the developmental pediatrician had called it, a term that Tyler finds gets under his skin and leaves a foul taste in his mouth- they’ve all learned just WHAT Tanner needs. Whether it be ‘sensory breaks’ when feeling overwhelmed or anxious or more one on one interaction. Today it’s deep pressure. Tyler feels his son’s need for it the second Tanner’s arms wrap around his waist. He’s struggling emotionally; likely missing him the most out of all the kids and having a hard time adjusting to being away from home and not having his usual routine. It’s been difficult to adjust to; trying to find that balance between giving Tanner what he so desperately needs and craves yet not alienating or neglecting the needs of the others.
“Hey, mate.” He presses a kiss to Tanner’s temple, then wraps both arms around his petite frame. Knowing the exact amount of pressure he needs to put into the embrace. It will last longer than what he’d shared with the others. Long ago getting used to Tanner’s ‘signs’; knowing it’s better for his son’s mental state if he allows Tanner to be the one to break contact.
The ten year old’s demeanour begins to change almost instantly; tension releasing from his body and his heart rate slowing down and the head to toe tremors disappearing. And he holds on until Tanner is good and ready to pull away, then places his hands on his son’s shoulders and crouches down to make them eye level. Smiling when his sunglasses are gently and carefully pulled off his face. That contact again; Tanner needing to be able to read the emotions and even the thoughts that he always says is ‘written in daddy’s eyes’.
“You good?”
Finally a smile. One that crinkles the corners of his eyes and creases the bridge of his nose. “I’m good, dad.”
“Good,” he leans in and presses a kiss to Tanner’s lips. “Miss me?”
The ten year old nods.
“How much?”
“Lots.”
“Just lots?”
The smile broadens. “Tons.”
“I knew it. I missed you too. Tons. I brought you something. From Vietnam. Remember how when I told you where I was going, you did all that research? Especially about the animals? What was your favorite one?”
“The sun bear.”
“Look what I found.” Reaching into the pocket of his navy wool pea coat, he pulls out a small porcelain statue of a sun bear. It had taken him two hours of scouring various markets near his hotel and in surrounding areas, but he’d managed to find one. Tanner’s obsession with studying countries and their native wildlife is no secret; postcards and other trinkets constantly pouring in from Koen and Rata and some of the other guys on staff.
Tanner’s eyes widen, and he gingerly “Just for me?”
“Just for you. I told you I’d do my best to find you something. You can add that to your collection.”
“Mum!” He excitedly turns to Esme as she joins them, cradling his gift in both palms. “Look what daddy found! Look what he got me!”
“That’s awesome nugget. Daddy never disappoints, does he.”
“Never. Thank you, daddy,” Tanner curls his arms around Tyler’s neck and presses a kiss to his cheek. “I missed you. I love you.”
“I missed you too, mate. And I love you,” he places his lips against his son’s temple. “So much.”
“Why don’t you go put that inside,” Esme suggests. “In your room. So it doesn’t get broken. You can come back out to play if you want. If not, dry socks please. Your feet are probably soaked.”
“And put my boots on the mat by the door and all wet stuff in the sink in the laundry room.”
“You got it.” She playfully tugs on the braided ties dangling from his head, then taps a fingertip against the end of the nose before he rushes off. “Hey, handsome,” she greets Tyler with a brilliant smile; one that’s a testament to immense relief his return brings. “Long time no see. Already upping your ‘best daddy in the world’ game, huh?”
“Couldn’t let him down, could I?”
“You never do. How was your flight?”
“It was alright.” He shrugs his bag further up onto his shoulders and reaches up to cup the back of her head in his palm, other hand falling on the small of her back and pulling her tightly into him. Despite the enormous difference in both weight and height, their bodies have always felt perfect together; easily and effortlessly melding into one another. He’d felt it that first day; 13 years ago in that rundown hotel room in Dhaka. She had felt amazing; soft skin and curves in all the right places, body warm and responding so eagerly and willingly to his. Everything it...about her...had felt good. It had felt right. And still does.
“I missed you.” Esme says, and perches herself on her tiptoes; the soles and heels of her bare feet lifting out her Crocs as she curls her arms around his neck.
“I missed you too. You have no idea how much.”
They both feel the stress and the worry immediately lift; her body leaning into his and her eyes closing, his hand gently pressing her head into his chest, his forearm sliding just under her ass. For minutes they stand in silence simply embracing one another and enjoying the reunion; snowflakes gathering in their hair and on the shoulders of their jackets. And when she eventually pulls away, he leans down to kiss her; long and soft and slow, palm moving from the back of her head to her cheek.
Tyler glances down, a grin playing on his lips. “What’s up with that outfit?”
“It’s a long story.” She reaches up to trace her fingertips over a handful of fresh scratches and gouges mar his face and forehead. “What’s up with these?”
“Those are also a long story. We’re missing one. There’s only six spawn. What happened? Finally have enough? Is she buried in the backyard?”
“I did FINALLY crack but she’s very much alive. She went to Alannah’s last night; for a sleepover. Alannah’s mom took them out today; for lunch and a movie and to do some Christmas shopping.” Alannah is one of the many friends Millie has managed to make during their trips to New York City; the daughter of a Korean diplomat and a former Rockette.
“She’s been THAT bad?”
“Let’s put it this way; she’s lucky she’s still breathing and I’m lucky I'm still sober.”
“Yikes. Not what I wanted to hear. Guess we’ll be talking about that later.”
“It can wait. No rush. She’ll be home for dinner. I’m sure she’ll still be in a mood.”
“I’ll handle it if she is.”
“And then I’ll get blamed for turning daddy against her.”
“Well, she’s got to learn. No one disrespects my wife. Not someone we know, not a complete stranger, not my own kids.”
“Always the protective husband. You hungry?”
“I could eat.”
“Tanner made some amazing soup yesterday and he insisted we save you some. And there’s fresh coffee AND the hot tub is already.”
“Best wife EVER.”
“I try. To keep my man happy.”
Smiling, he smoothes her hair away from her hair and loops errant strands behind her ears. “You do a very good job at that. And later, I’ll make YOU very happy.”
Esme grins. “Is that a promise?”
“That’s a promise.” He kisses her once more; her face cradled in both hands and her body more melting into his his.
Her smile is softer; eyes sparkling with a mixture of relief and happiness. And love. There’s always love there. And he's certain there always will be.
“I missed you,” he says yet again, and leans down to place a kiss on her temple and nuzzles the tip of his nose against her ear.
Pulling back to look at him, her hand once more moves to his face. Knuckles skimming along his jaw before her palm cups his cheek, her eyes never leaving his as two of her fingertips glide over his lips. She allows the the bottom of his chin to rest in the curve between thumb and forefinger, then softly and briefly brushes her mouth against his
“Welcome home, baby,” she whispers against his lips, then takes his hand in hers and leads the way inside.

Jennifer Garner Plastic Surgery
Tumblr media
Jennifer Garner has been around the information recently after her split from her husband, Ben Affleck. But right here on this blog site, we're much more interested in her appeal development! Currently 43 years of age, Jen first rose to fame back in 2001, age 29, as Sydney Bristow on the hit tv series Alias. Soon after that, she moved over to the big screen, starring in films such as Daredevil, 13 Taking Place 30 (my fave!), and most lately, Dallas Purchasers Club. Check out the blog about celebrities before and after cosmetic surgery!
For many years, Jennifer has likewise created her share of cosmetic surgery rumors. Some claim she had her lips done, some state nose, some state teeth. Let's take a look!
The year 2001
Tumblr media
You understand I see numerous paparazzi pictures of Jen in poorly dressed mama clothing that it's easy to forget what an elegance she is/was. Despite the over-tweezed eyebrows, she looks so fresh and also quiet. This hairstyle is SO 2001, ha!
The year 2002
Tumblr media
The list below year, she busted out one more timeless very early '00s 'do. Individuals specifically did odd things with their updos in the 2000s! Still, Jen looks great with tightlined eyes and also the peachy makeup. As you can see, her lips were always relatively complete.
The year 2003
Tumblr media
I include this one so we can get consider her initial teeth. I believe she may have done some (minor) upgrades because area later, as we'll quickly see.
The year 2004
Tumblr media
Another look at Jen's teeth. I assume she has to've got the usual Hollywood teeth whitening bundle! She was 32 here and also still adorable as a button. Additionally: I kind of wish she had to go back to this hair color and size, plus the fresh makeup. It truly suits her.
The year 2007
Tumblr media
Jen didn't go back to the red carpet until 2007, as she was off having her initial baby. She was 35 here and also still pretty much sticking to her subtle makeup dish. I do not discover any medical changes with her nose or anything else yet. Eyebrows are growing back in exceptionally nicely!
The year 2008
Tumblr media
I assume she might've been expecting once more below. See exactly how this hair length works well for her? I additionally feel she looks her ideal when she keeps her appearance natural and casual-- thus the disconnect with some of her glammed-up red carpet appearances lately.
The year 2009
Tumblr media
That flush is so reliable! Likewise, it resembles Jen's face form is starting to alter from oblong to long. That could be why I favor her hair to be an excellent few inches shorter than this-- too long, as well as it drags her face down.
The year 2010
Tumblr media
I believe this could've been among the photos that triggered a "lip shots" conversation. However, I do not assume she actually had them-- most likely simply the camera caught her in an awkward expression. I do, however, suspicious she started making use of fillers in her cheeks as well as Botox by this factor. Her face has that a little wooden look that is an indicator. And also, the outdated coiffure is not assisting!
The year 2011
Tumblr media
Every little thing is softened a little bit below: the curly hair, the stained berry lips, as well as the fact that she's grinning. Possibly she got a bit of weight that is submitting her face extra, also. (Jen is 39 below.) If you look closely at her crow's feet, I assume they have been Botoxed slightly.
The year 2013
Tumblr media
This lip color is amusing, as well as her hair isn't also "done" for her casual sense of style. Emphasizes are canyon, too. Interestingly sufficient, it does not look like she got a dental job ... yet!
The year 2014
Tumblr media
In this 2014 shot, I presume something transformed. Is it only me, or are her front teeth a lot more famous? I'm obtaining moderate Hilary Duff feelings, so maybe veneers or laser periodontal surgical treatment, I do not know. In general, she looks a teensy bit limited and injected--, but it's still really stylish, and nothing like the celebs who overdo it with that said things. The super-glam, wavy hairstyle appears to be wearing her and also not vice-versa.
The year 2015
Tumblr media
Below, you can see how much Jen's lips are over-lined (not that she requires it!). Among her eyelids is a little bit sagging-- Botox failed?
The year 2016
Tumblr media
I like that Jen looks younger and much less conservative below than she did six years previously, in 2010! It's the pink lip with the red dress and the beautifully tousled hair. Her highlights are additionally excellent, and also she has just enough biological activity in her face.
Verdict
Tumblr media
Generally, I believe Jen is maturing magnificently-- and also, as for Hollywood goes, far more naturally than is the standard!
Based upon these pictures (as well as her age), she's no doubt dabbling in injectables now. If she did modify her nose and lips, you actually can not tell ... although I suspect possible aesthetic dental care could be the reason for the new look around her mouth.

Unmasking the Surgical Mask
Unmasking the Surgical Mask: Does It Really Work?
Tumblr media
by  Crystal  Phend,                    Senior Staff Writer, MedPage Today             October 5, 2009
For a century, the surgical mask has been the symbol of a safe and sanitary medical environment. The problem: researchers don't really know if that's true.
With the H1N1 influenza pandemic spreading every day, experts are still debating what type of mask to wear and how much protection that mask truly provides, particularly for those at the front lines of transmission  --  healthcare workers.
Major health agencies, including the World Health Organization, the CDC, and others, have offered confusing and sometimes contradictory guidelines.
Moreover, those guidelines differ for healthcare workers and ordinary citizens worried about the spread of H1N1. Even among healthcare professionals, there are different guidelines for medical wards and operating rooms.
Still, most healthcare professionals have concluded that, at the very worst, a mask can't hurt, even if it may provide a false sense of safety.
The notion of covering the nose and mouth for infection control actually dates back more than a century to the period when German physician Carl Flügge discovered that exhaled droplets could transmit tuberculosis.
The modern surgical mask, successor to the crude gauze strips those early doctors and nurses employed, is still primarily designed to prevent the passage of relatively large particles, such as sputum droplets and hair.
A high tech version  --  the so-called N95 respirator  --  seals tightly around mouth and nose and is made of material certified to block 95% of particles 0.3 μm or larger in diameter, roughly the size of a single virus. There's something resembling agreement that, worn properly, these do their job.
Conflicting Guidelines
CDC recommends surgical masks as part of the overall arsenal deployed against seasonal flu, but along with the Institute of Medicine, CDC has recommended only N95 respirators for protection against H1N1  --  in part, because animal studies suggest airborne transmission of the virus via small particles.
Not so for the World Health Organization or the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
They collectively recommended regular surgical masks except in high risk circumstances, such as during open suctioning of airway secretions and other procedures that could "aerosolize" the H1N1 virus.
There's a good reason for this lack of consensus: a dearth of quality evidence in a scientific arena dominated by anecdote and laboratory experiment.
"Some of these practices that have been in place for decades haven't been subjected to the same strenuous investigation that, for instance, a new medicine might be subjected to," Mark Rupp, MD, president of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, told MedPage Today.
Masks, he noted, "are fairly innocuous, relatively cheap, and so people are not really very interested in going through the extensive investigation that would be required."
Conflicting Evidence
In the past two weeks, researchers have released results from the first two randomized clinical trials investigating efficacy of masks and respirators in protecting healthcare workers from respiratory infection.
Did they settle the issue?
Hardly. In fact, their conflicting results simply added fuel to the debate, according to CDC's Arjun Srinivasan, MD.
The first reports came in August, during IOM deliberations over standards for healthcare workers' personal protective equipment, when C. Raina MacIntyre, MBBS, PhD, of the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, presented preliminary results of her randomized clinical trial.
That study involved nearly 2,000 emergency and respiratory ward nurses and physicians in Beijing who were cluster-randomized to wear surgical masks, fit-tested N95 respirators, or non-fit tested N95 respirators during all work hours for four consecutive weeks during the cold and flu season.
Having been through the SARS scare in 2003, the Chinese are regarded as very serious about mask use in the hospital and outside.
At the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy in September, MacIntyre presented the dramatic results: Consistent use of N95 respirators prevented 75% of respiratory infections, while consistent surgical mask use was no better than low use for prevention of clinical respiratory illness (6.7% versus 9.2%, P=0.159) or of influenza-like illness (0.6% versus 1.3%, P=0.336).
The case against old-fashioned surgical masks seemed clear.
"To me it would not seem justifiable to ask healthcare workers to wear surgical masks," MacIntyre said in an interview.
Then another shocker. A second head-to-head study appeared, this time in the Journal of the American Medical Association. It's conclusion: surgical masks were just as good as N95 respirators.
The 478 emergency department, medical unit, and pediatric nurses in this Canadian study who were randomized to use a surgical mask when providing care to patients with febrile respiratory illness during the flu season caught seasonal flu at about the same rate as those who wore fit-tested, N95 respirators (23.6% versus 22.9%, P=0.86).
For H1N1 influenza, surgical masks again met noninferiority criteria versus the N95 respirator (8.0% versus 11.9%, P=0.18).
Design may have accounted for the discrepancy between the trials, at least in part, suggested Srinivasan, who co-authored an editorial accompanying the JAMA study with an IOM committee member colleague.
"These types of studies are very difficult to do," he told MedPage Today.
The driving factor in effectiveness is how frequently and intensely the wearer is exposed to infection, he said. So one possibility is that masks may have been enough for Canadian nurses in generally lower risk settings, but not for the high-risk Chinese healthcare workers.
In Surgery: Masks Unmasked
Lack of evidence has also plagued surgical masks in their traditional setting, and where their use is still nearly universal: the operating room.
But not for lack of study.
In fact, three large, randomized controlled trials were conducted in the 1980s to determine once and for all if surgical masks actually did prevent surgical wound infection.
Here, where bacteria were the major concern in wound infection, the enemy targets were larger and might not require the fine filtration necessary to keep a respiratory virus away, researchers theorized.
But the trials "showed absolutely no efficacy" for that original purpose, MacIntyre noted.
"Really, the surgeon might as well wear nothing on their face," she said.
Still, the CDC recommends a mask in the operating room, citing long-standing tradition and the benefits of protecting nose and mouth from splashes of blood and other bodily fluids.
MacIntyre noted that a face shield is a better option against splashes because surgeons have to wear eye protection with a mask anyway.
But mask wearing "is so inculcated into the practice of medicine that it's going to be very hard to change," said John G. Bartlett, MD, former chief of infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins.
Tradition and aesthetics play a role in the issue. Patients would not accept a surgeon who doesn't wear a mask because they are so ingrained as a symbol of a safe surgical environment, Bartlett said.
And since the masks are fairly inexpensive and easy to wear, it hasn't been worth challenging the status quo, he declared.
Nor are there likely to be more studies to decide the issue one way or the other, added Rupp. "Those studies are difficult to do because the percentage of patients who develop a surgical site infection is very, very low. So the impact of wearing a surgical mask is difficult to demonstrate," he said.
Masks for the Masses
Unlike the operating room, where it would be impossible to stop people from wearing masks, there are few places outside the hospital where it hasn't been hard to persuade people to put them on.
One of the exceptions is Asia, which has developed has a strong culture of mask use, both in medical settings and in public venues, largely as a result of the SARS epidemic in 2003, Bartlett said.
"Those people did whatever they could to try to prevent SARS," he recalled. "If it turned out that the H1N1 virus became more virulent and started to be a really serious disease, then people would be much more fastidious about how they used the disease prevention tools."
The CDC recommends that people who are ill with suspected or confirmed H1N1 flu wear face masks when at home around family members, in healthcare settings, at school until they can be taken home, and when it's necessary for them to be out and about.
However, the only high-level evidence for efficacy of masks in the community was a trial from Hong Kong -- published online last month in the Annals of Internal Medicine  --  involving flu patients who were randomized to hand hygiene alone or in combination with surgical masks.
Compared with controls, employing hand hygiene alone or with face masks tended to reduce transmission of the flu to those living in the same house, but not significantly so.
However, when these interventions were initiated within 36 hours of symptom onset, face masks plus hand hygiene reduced risk of transmission by a very significant 67%.
Although the entire benefit can't be attributed to face masks, the results suggest masks may make a difference, MacIntyre said.
Because exposure to pathogens is typically much lower for the general public than for healthcare workers, "surgical masks may be enough in the community," she said.
Rupp agreed, saying he takes a "better safe than sorry" approach. His medical center asks patients with potentially droplet-mediated infections to put on a surgical mask.
"There probably isn't a whole lot of extensive study on the use of this in clinical situation," Rupp said. "We do think it's a pretty obvious way somebody can go about containing their secretions."
N95 masks would likely provide even more protection, MacIntyre said, but there's is fairly clear consensus that they would be intolerable for someone with a respiratory illness.
"They are relatively difficult to breath through; they can be associated also with feelings of claustrophobia and kind of a suffocating sensation," Rupp added. "It's difficult enough to get them to wear a loose fitting and relatively comfortable surgical mask."
Practical Masking
Practical issues such as compliance and supply have been part of the argument for use of surgical masks rather than N95 respirators in most clinical settings.
In a New England Journal of Medicine perspective piece last week, several IOM committee members acknowledged that N95 respirators are currently in short supply.
They suggested that healthcare institutions place priority on N95 respirators in the highest-risk areas, "such as enclosed spaces in the respiratory care unit, patients' rooms, and ambulances."
While the IOM was instructed to not take these issues into consideration in its guidelines, a CDC spokesperson said that agency is making them a large factor in revision of its interim guidelines for healthcare worker respiratory protection.
In the end, however, infectious disease specialists always come back to the bigger picture.
Debate over the role of respiratory protection in preventing influenza transmission doesn't "excuse anyone from failing to implement other measures that are known to protect patients and healthcare professionals from influenza," Srinivasan's JAMA editorial concluded.
"Masks and respirators should be considered the 'last line of defense' in a hierarchy of infection control measures."
Handwashing, good etiquette when sneezing and coughing, and staying home when sick are still the keys to preventing spread of infectious disease, it said.

Also in the story itself though we don't meet most of the characters(the human ones at least) until later on but I will be drawing them a LOT
Evanna(Species - Dali) : She's a well respected queen of the kingdom Tongyi! However, cause her mother wasn't great whatsoever, Evanna got stuck with a war that began before she took the throne. She's reckless and puts the safety of others above her own, and she really loves poetry! She has a whole library filled with as many poetry books she could get her hands on, as well as some of her own works. Evanna's also Aro/Ace!
Erin(Species - Dali) : Erin is Evanna's head guard, and is always by her side(unless he's out of commission). He's the one that's prevented an early death for Evanna so far. He has a wonderful wife named Azzy, who he absolutely adores! He gushes about her to anyone who will listen, and she gets to stay at the castle with him and Evanna. Erin's pretty intelligent, and despite being a soldier his actual powers are fairly weak, and he relies more on strength than energy(despite looking like a beanstalk-). He's also very touchy and loves kissing people's foreheads, hands, cheeks, etc. Unless it's with Azzy, those are all platonic
Nezu(Species - Dali) : One of the most powerful healers of their age, Nezu was kept hidden from the world for as long as they can remember. Their parents were just looking out for them. Both ended up dying in a battle so Nezu finally got to leave the house and actually help the wounded, and even heals Evanna! Nezu's quite curious about a lot of things, and can very easily kick your ass if you disrespect someone close to them. Also they're like,,, 12-14 in the beginning of the story and they're small but ends up being a highly admired healer within like a year cause of their crazy healing abilities
Dani(Species - Dali?) : Grew up in the kingdom Hayes, until his parents were killed and his brother took the throne. Dani instead of being prince still was kinda,,,, exiled from the kingdom, and once he reached Tongyi he was put into the orphanage. Once he's older, Evanna adopts him cause she needs an heir but she refuses to have a biological child. He's a huge jerk cause of isolation and all that but he warms up to Evanna quickly. It takes him longer to warm up to the visiting(and later resident) humans though. Oh, he's also bisexual! He also doesn't like kissing on the lips, but loves forehead and nose kisses
Leona(Species - Human+???) : So Leona also had a rough childhood, her brothers disappeared from her life early on, her parents were neglectful. They kicked her out when they found out she was lesbian, and Leona had no way to support herself. She ended up turning to a life of crime, and was soon one of the youngest members of an organization called Tempest. Tempest was a government experiment, combining various DNAs into a human and seeing how that affected them, except it became very corrupt and the leaders would give out assignments to go kill anyone who posed a threat to them. Leona works her way up the ranks fast cause she's good as an assassin, and has only not completed 1 mission to date
Marie(Species - Human) : Marie actually had a great childhood! She was loved dearly by her moms and although her and her brother had their differences, they were still there for one another. Their biggest argument(that lasted nearly three months) was about Marie being bisexual and how her brother didn't believe it(he came around and apologized profusely to her, and since has learned more about LGBTQ+ stuff). Something really tragic happens not long before she adopts a fifteen year old, however imma leave it at that. Marie also works at a cafe that supports those who've been through something very traumatic, and she adores her job.
Jeremiah(Species - Human?+???) : Jeremiah was also part of Tempest, his parents both being part of the organization and prompting him to join. He was often just called "Pup" by everyone. Jeremiah's actually trans! However he doesn't feel he needs nor wants top surgery. He wasn't a field Tempest member like Leona though, he was an engineer. A really skilled one too. Sexuality wise he's panromantic asexual! Also he's pretty short(as are many of these characters) Loves cuddling!!
Taylor(Species - Human?) : Taylor was the teen adopted by Marie! While Marie is quite sweet, Taylor's personality is actually far more similar to Leona's and to an extent, Evanna's. She gets called Aunty Tay by any small child for some reason and she just m e l t s. Really loves Marie and the rest of the Sydney family. Taylor's actually quite protective! Especially of her younger cousin. She's polyamorous(probably spelling that wrong-) however doesn't really consider herself as part of the LGBTQ+ community(I'm pretty sure poly people are included?) cause she otherwise identifies as hetero.
This ended up being so much longer than I originally thought it'd be
